This week was Samoan Language Week. We read a myth called The Turtle and the Shark. It is about a woman(Fonuea) and her daughter(Salofva) who lived in Samoa. Once there was a famine and their family left them to starve. They jumped of a cliff and Fonuea instantly turned into a turtle and Salofva turned into a shark. They swam a long way to a island(Vaitogi) and the people there cared for them. In return they stayed to entertain Vaitogi's people. We also did a worksheet. In the worksheet there was map skills, how to count to ten and some creative writing prompts. This is a picture of my worksheet.
I am a Year 6 at Good Shepherd School in Auckland. I am in Room 5 and my Teacher is Mrs Drummond.

Growth Mindset
Did you know people who have a growth mindset to their learning have a better chance of succeeding?Growth mindset is about having a positive attitude, especially when things are getting challenging. Our inquiry topic last term was growth mindset. To conclude all our learning we made a big brain altogether. This is what it looks like.
Our Assembly
Last Friday we had our assembly. Our two main events were a play and a dance. We did a play called My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day. It is about a grandad who marches for people who can't on ANZAC Day. In the play we added the role of a mum which I played and we also did a dance. Our class did a dance to an ANZAC Day song. I really liked our assembly.

In Religeous Education we learned about the gifts the Holy Spirit gives us. To show our learning we made a tectrahedron and explained what each gift means.
ANZAC Day Phamphlet
As well as doing ANZAC day art we also did a phamphlet about an object with a particular soliders story in World War l. My phamphlet is about Thomas Harry Kinder. He was a student at Wanganui Collegiate when World War l broke out. The object is a picture of his class. Two of them did not go to war and the rest of them served. Five were killed, five were injured and three came back without serious injuries. This is my phamphlet.

My maths goal is to identify factors of numbers to 100, my reading goal is to understand the main idea in the text and my writing goal is to use complex sentences. I hope that I can achieve my goals my the end of term 1.
