Poetry

This week we have been doing poetry to send over to another classroom in New Zealand and we get poetry from another class which is very cool. We had to do a poem with 18 words in it, plus an anagram and say what your object was. I did a chess piece and a gem. These are my poems.

Tabloid Sports

Last Wednesday we had tabloid sports for Saint Joseph's day. Saint Joseph is the patron saint of our school. He is special to our school because our school is founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. So on Tuesday we had a school mass to celebrate Saint Joseph's day and we did tabloid sports on Wednesday. Tabloid sports is where you go in a rotation in your houses and do fun games like four corners, shark attack, obstacle courses and much, much more. Mrs McLeod and the house captains organised this event. It was a great day.

Graphs

A few weeks ago we learned about bar graphs. First our teacher told us what they look like, how you draw them and what information is better to put on a bar graph and what information is better to put on a pie graph. After we had learnt everything we got in groups of three and did a graph. My group did our graph on the class's favourite foods. This is our graph.

Drama

This year our class does drama every Thursday. We are just going to play drama games for the first few weeks but at the end of Term 1 we get to go in groups and make a play to perform. I hope we can continue to do drama for the rest of the year.

Reading Plays

A few weeks ago we started to do plays in our reading groups. My reading group, The Red Pandas did a play a few weeks ago about a car trip where they were ment to go to mini golf but ended up going to a garden centre. I like doing plays and I hope we can contine to do plays till the end of the year.

Lent

Last week was the beginning of Lent.  Every year in Lent I make a lenten promise. This year my lenten promise is to do every chore that I see that needs to be done. We made heart and wrote our lenten promise on them. This is my heart.

Shrove Tuesday

Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday. At the start of the day we burnt the palms from last year to use on Ash Wednesday which is today.  Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent which marks down to Jesus' death and ressurection. In the afternoon we made pancakes with the year one's. We make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday because in Jesus' time Lent was a time of fasting and their sugar, milk and flour would go off so they made pancakes.

My Mantra

This week in Inquiry we have been working on our mantras. My mantra is... If you find a path with no obstacles it probably does not lead anywhere. I chose this mantra because to me it means if you find everything in life easy you won't get better at anything. So I think this is a good message.

Pepeha

Last week we worked on our pepehas. A pepeha is a form of introduction and heritage. This is my pepeha.
